The Team Behind the Track

NEXT MX is led by Brandon Phinney and Jeff Brown - two riders who turned their passion into a purpose. From shaping every jump to coaching kids through their first motos, Brandon and Jeff are at the heart of everything that happens at NEXT MX. This isn’t just a track - it’s a rider-built community.

  • Founder & Head Coach – NEXT MX
    Beaverton, Ontario 🇨🇦

Brandon Phinney is a lifelong motocross athlete and the driving force behind NEXT MX. With deep Canadian roots and U.S. national experience, Brandon has competed at the highest levels of amateur and pro racing.

He is a multi-time Walton TransCan podium finisher and a two-time Loretta Lynn’s Amateur National qualifier (2006 & 2008), representing Canada at the most prestigious amateur race in the world. His standout performance at the 2008 Steel City Regional included a 3rd place moto finish in the MX Lites B Stock class - battling directly with riders like Ken Roczen, A.J. Catanzaro, and James Decotis, ultimately placing 6th overall.

Brandon later raced professionally in Canada, with his best national result coming at the brutal Gopher Dunes Pro National in 2010, finishing 12th overall in the 450 (MX1) class against a stacked field of international talent.

In 2021, Brandon turned years of competitive racing into NEXT MX - a private, rider-focused facility designed to give back to the sport that shaped him. As both builder and coach, he brings a unique mix of high-level experience, technical knowledge, and a passion for helping the next generation of riders level up.

  • Co-Founder & Track Designer – NEXT MX
    Sunderland, Ontario 🇨🇦

Jeff Brown is a lifelong motocross rider, 2006 Walton TransCan Junior class champion, and the design mind behind the flow and feel of NEXT MX. Known for his creative line choices, technical riding, and fearless jump sends, Jeff is a true rider’s rider - with a unique ability to turn raw land into a rider’s playground.

His background in excavation and machinery made him the perfect partner when Brandon Phinney first started shaping the property in 2021. A single DM - and a rented dozer - was all it took to kick off the project. From that point forward, Jeff brought years of experience and a sharp eye for layout to help build every feature by hand.

A natural on SX-style tracks, Jeff is known for his precision, jump timing, and bold sends. His track design reflects the same approach: creative, challenging, and built for progression. Whether it’s large send sections or advanced jump lines, his vision is felt in every lap at NEXT MX.

Today, Jeff continues to shape the facility and mentor the next generation of riders who ride it. His coaching style is hands-on and focused on building skill through repetition, timing, and creativity.
